NationView, LLC Named High Performing Minority Business of the Year by the Minority Business Development Agency

NationView, LLC was founded in 2005 by its current President, David D. Martin.  During the first years of its operation, NationView performed environmental investigative surveys and self-performed small renovation projects.  While building corporate experience, they began the process of applying for an 8(a) certification through the Small Business Administration’s program for small disadvantaged businesses.  In 2006, NationView was approved to enter the program and began to aggressively pursue Federal work.  The company was able to land new projects both competitively and through negotiation with clients such as the US Army Corps of Engineers and the National Park Service.

With the government’s increased focus on construction projects through their Base Closure and Realignment Commission (BRAC), Mr. Martin recognized new opportunities.  Responding to the government’s need for qualified contractors, additional staff was hired with experience in large construction projects for both commercial and Federal clients.  In the fall of 2006, NationView competitively won a high profile, historical renovation project at the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site.  This important project was performed in multiple phases, with completion of all work at the site in 2011.  In 2010, NationView received a National Preservation Award from the National Trust for Historic Preservation for the role they played in restoring and rebuilding the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site.  Having successfully completed this meaningful and complex endeavor, new doors opened for the company and NationView was able to procure additional work in the Federal sector.

As the company’s construction division grew, so did the environmental division.  The company was able to win contracts for work performed at Holloman Air Force Base, and in short order, NationView opened a new office in the downtown area of Alamogordo, New Mexico adjacent to the base.  During the years following, NationView successfully completed large environmental remediation projects and multiple construction contracts at Holloman.  Work continues to be performed at Holloman and other bases in the region.

After establishing a quality reputation in the Federal sector, the company experienced the impact of a changing and challenging economy.  With a mission of self-performance to be more competitive, NationView focused on aggressively pursuing commercial, healthcare, industrial, and institutional projects.  Pursuant to this mission, a masonry division was formed to complement the general construction effort, and additional staff was added to the environmental division.  These efforts proved successful as opportunities became evident in new markets.  As a result, NationView opened a new office in Huntsville, Alabama in an effort to expand their geographical footprint.

Through building strong relationships and aggressively pursuing new opportunities, NationView has successfully completed numerous projects for clients such as Wal-Mart, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Belk department stores, and the Birmingham Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.  The rest of their history is waiting to be written but if the past is an indicator, it will be both exciting and dynamic.
